The Chopi people are known for an unique wood xylophone named 'TIMBILA' and the style played with it is to be believed to be the most complicated method. This instrument is used for a type of dance called ngomi. The dance has ten movements of tempos and styles.

The Bongo drum is a percussion instrument and is mainly played by hand. There are 2 different sizes. The female one is called the hembra which is smaller, and the bigger size is the male one named macho. Bongo drumhead are made out of animal skins and the body is made out of wood, metal or ceramic. The modern bongo drumhead can also be made out of thin plastic.

Marrabenta is a type of dance and music to go with it. It is European music played on materials such as Electric guitars that has strings that could snap off easily and instruments that was fashioned out of cans of tin and pieces of wood.

Gito Baloi is a bass guitarist and singer born on September 30th 1964 and died on April 4th 2004.

Humberto Carlos Benfica is his real name but he is also known as Wazimbo.
He was born November 11, 1948. He has one of the most amazing voices in
Mozambique. He sings Marrabenta songs as his genre he grew up in the popular
neighborhood Mafalala. There he started as a vocal member for the local
'Silverstars' and then 'Geizers'. Later, he joined Orchestra Marrabenta Star.
